Baby Brain

Zoe Bowden - Monday, June 16, 2014

I suspect most of you that read this blog have by now discovered (via the various social media channels!) that I am pregnant with my first baby!

So, finally I am totally justified to goggle over cute baby clothes, nursery furniture and lovely handmade toys!

So with this in mind...I thought I  might share my latest baby-related product wants with you...a wish list for Baby Pouch...

Spring Extravaganza from Coral & Tusk

Zoe Bowden - Thursday, April 17, 2014

Now if I lived anywhere near this, like even in the same country (USA) then I would be planning how I would be getting to Coral & Tusk's Spring Extravaganza in New York this May.

I just love everything that amazing New York makers Coral & Tusk do, but this just caps it all off...

Check out the HUGE list of creative & clever people who have joined them to show their wares...

Even the opening - Mast Brothers chocolate tasting!! yum!

There is even going to be a life size Coral & Tusk tipi and canoe....bliss...

So if you are reading this and you are anywhere in the US...get to this!

Also, check out the super cute sketch of what the set up looks like...(taken from Coral & Tusk website)

New Stockists

Zoe Bowden - Friday, April 11, 2014

Once again, apologies for the long wait between posts! What can I say...it's the usual excuse of too much to do and not enough time!

But I do have exciting news...since the success of Pouch at Life Instyle in February I have a lot of lovely new stockists.

I have added them all to my Stockist page, so head over and see whereabouts you can find Pouch near you.

I am proud to say that most states are covered now, with some cities and some small country towns getting their deliveries of Pouch goodies recently.

Hope you enjoy seeing Pouch pop up in stores near you!

And I thought I might share this awesome photo of Mr Fox sitting very proudly within Mr Jason Grant's Style Lab at Life Instyle...Pretty chuffed to be selected and to be alongside some amazing products - love that whale cushion from Homely Creatures

First Instyle

Zoe Bowden - Sunday, February 02, 2014

Pouch will be at First Instyle (part of hugely successful Life Instyle) Sydney from 13th to 16th February 2014.

Find me at stand F02, in the First Instyle section.

Looking forward to meeting some new faces and other clever creatives at my first trade show!

A while between posts...oh hello 2014

Zoe Bowden - Friday, January 31, 2014

First things first, apologies for a huge gap since my last post. I am a bit ashamed that my poor blog has been so awfully neglected!

Various things have kept me busy and away from my computer...

Firstly I had a little stall at Finders Keepers in Sydney last December and as usual the girls who organise it did a great job. It was a big, bustling busy event and Pouch artworks where flying off the stall!  Here is a sneaky snap of my stall set up. Lovely to meet all my loyal customers who have been following me & my journey with Pouch for a while. Also great to meet some new faces, put names to faces of those I had been in contact with or those I found via Pinterest or Instagram. Finders Keepers is such an important event for all those small creative businesses like me...its a great way to introduce people to your work and also finally meet all those craft crushes I have had on all the creatives I see and hear about! A few special mentions need to be said to my trusty team of friends who helped me through the manic few days...My muscles - Mr Adam Powell, my lovely smiley friend Sophie who is the best sales assistant due to her un-dwindling enthusiasm! And to my lovely friend Gemma who again, only needs to  flash her smile and the customers come-a-running! You guys ROCK!

Then Christmas happened...and there was a lot of orders to get out the door before I jetted off on an exciting adventure...

The Honeymoon! Yep it finally happened...only 18 months late, but well worth the wait. Officially the honeymoon didn't start until we set foot in Mexico on 2nd Jan 2014, because before we got there we stopped off for Christmas in Cape Cod, USA to spend an amazing time with my family who all flew in from various corners of the world. We ate, drank and were very merry! It even snowed on Christmas Day which is so special. After that we hoped on a train to New York where we spent New Years with our friends who live there. We squeezed in an insane amount in only 4 days and it was incredible. A small snippet of what we did: ice skating in Central Park, eating a reuben sandwich at the famous Katz deli, Staten Island ferry, drinking in the oldest pub in NYC, walking the Highline, shopping in Saks 5th Ave, eating pizza, eating steak and so much more!! Then we finally arrived in Mexico for our honeymoon and it was just perfect. I won't bore you with all the details but all I will say is that we loved every second of it. The colonial towns with horse & carts, the steamy countryside, the luxurious haciendas, the food (oh the food!), the Carribean sea and the beaches of the Yucatan...all bliss...Here are a few photos of what I saw, ate, did, drank and hope you enjoy...

And finally a bit of news on what is coming up in 2014...

On 13th, 14th, 15th February I will be at taking part in the fantastic trade show in Sydney Life Instyle. So all you stores, stockists and retailers can find me in the First Instyle section. I am hoping to meet some new friends, make some contacts and get some fab new stockists on board for 2014.  Come say hello if you are visiting the show.

Sadly Eveleigh Artisan Markets are no more...they stopped at the end of 2013 and I am missing my monthly stall with the amazing creatives there. I am hoping to find myself a spot at another local market, but in the meantime, you can buy everything online and there are some NEW DESIGNS so be sure to check them out!

Pouch gets some Sunday Style

Zoe Bowden - Monday, October 21, 2013

Totally over excited to share with you the latest piece of press Pouch managed to get recently.

Last weekend's Sunday Style magazine featured the Toucan artwork alongside some other very cute animal-inspired choices from Mr Jason Grant.

What a fantastic bit of press and I felt a bit honoured for Pouch artworks to be sat alongside goodies from Donna Wilson, I like Birds in Paddington and Bride & Wolfe.

Thanks Mr Jason Grant - you have a great eye for good stuff!

Spring is in the air

Zoe Bowden - Friday, October 11, 2013

It was time for a change...being Spring and all I decided it was time for a Spring Clean and time for some new creatures at Pouch Handmade.

Introducing Fox, Mushroom and Snail!  All are now up on the Pouch store, and can be bought online or at the various markets you can find me at.

And why these particular creatures you ask!? Well, the Snail will always remind me of my friend Lucy who LOVES snails! The Fox is just that elusive night time creature that seems to get a bad wrap! And the Mushroom, well he is just a Fun-Gi...ha ha - bad joke!

Hope you like the newbies and I have also put a few of the older designs on sale (Curly Cat, Croc, Rabbit, Dog & Ice Cream)...so time to grab a bargain while I still have a few left!

Helping you spend your money

Zoe Bowden - Friday, October 04, 2013

WARNING: Today's blog post is totally going to do damage to your credit card or bank account...just wanted to get that out there from the start! I don't want any of you blaming me for your purchases!

OK, now that's said...here is the reason...

A good friend of mine, last week launched the most beautiful online store called Frond Store.

Tess moved from Sydney to Darwin a few years back, now she is back in Sydney (much to my delight!) and she decided to trade her cute little bricks & mortar store in Darwin for a stunning online version.

Frond Store really captures the essence of Tess...that might sound odd...but her store perfectly reflects her natural, soft, elegant beauty and calm, kind and generous personality...her shop is her!

I love that someone's business is a reflection of them.....you buy from them, you buy a piece of them....and that's how I like to think of Pouch too!

Anyway...I double dare you NOT to buy something from Frond Store...the edited collection of cool, summery and delicious clothes, jewellery, candles and more will have you grasping for your purse!

So, double happiness as my friend Tess is back in the hood and she has a constant supply of things I want!!!

Support your local Australian businesses and buy from someone who puts a bit of  love into everything they do....

Go Tess!

Surfboards & Sunshine

Zoe Bowden - Monday, September 30, 2013

I was recently asked to create a custom artwork for a lovely mum in WA for her son.

Based near City Beach, this customer wanted something that reflected her & her families lifestyle. So there needed to be a beach, surf boards, something to indicate 3 kiddies and perhaps the famous City Beach life guard tower in Perth.

So...I set to work creating something quite different from my normal orders and hoped I could capture the feeling of Perth and the lovely lifestyle this customer described to me!

Bright colours where a must for this little boy, not a problem at all for something like me who loves a dose of brightness!

Below is the fruits of my labour and I am pleased to see the finished artwork up already in this special little boy's room.

I love a happy customer!!
